The water meter that can be retrofitted with modules
The istameter m water meter is the logical refinement of the original istameter, which has already proven its worth millions of times. As a modular water meter, the istameter m offers a solution with only one meter for every technology standard, radio or Mbus) and every application (cut-off date version).
Performance features of the istameter m
The istameter m is a multi-jet impeller meter with a drive magnet and roller-type counter. As a dry meter, the istameter m guarantees greater operating and metering accuracy as the counter does not come into contact with the flowing water. Therefore, deposits in the counter are avoided.
Safe investment: In the basic version the istameter m is equipped with an empty module. Thanks to the modular design of the istameter m, the empty module can be simply and quickly removed at any time, thus providing a base for the following water meter versions:
- Cut-off date version: istameter memo
- Radio version: istameter radio
- Mbus version: istameter mbus

All istameter m meters have a transducer disk in the form of a reflecting segment which is located on the counter of the water meter. When one of the modules available is used - cut-off date, radio or Mbus version - the water meter transfers the meter reading through this transducer disk to the electronics installed in the module. This electronic transfer is disturbance-free and thus ensures safe, magnet-free transmission of the readings from the water meter to the modules.

domaqua® m
With millions of units sold ista's domaqua water meter is already a proven success story. We have now adopted single-jet impeller-wheel technology to transform our domestic water meter into an all-rounder. The new domaqua m ('m' stands for modular) uses a single meter to provide a solution for every technological set-up and application. The basic domaqua m meter comes with a plastic cover. The single-jet process gives consistent measurements accurate to smallest volumes. As a dry running water meter it also operates to very high standards since the measuring counter does not come into contact with flowing water and is thus not susceptible to water-borne deposits. The meters can be fitted in a horizontal or vertical position and the counter can be rotated up to 360° for easy reading.
Modular design adapts to most situations. Any one of four modules can be fitted, either at the start or at a later stage, to provide one of four functions:
memo (deadline value)
When fitted with the 'memo' cut-off date module the domaqua m provides water metering up to a specified day. This metering system can easily be used in conjunction with electronic heating cost allocators or heat meters to provide instant measurement of water and heat consumption.
radio3 module (radio transmission)
This remote-controlled module provides even more ease and flexibility of operation in calculating water consumption. The times when each meter had to be read individually in every flat are long gone. The domaqua m can use the 'radio3' remote-transmission module to link into the symphonic3 ista radio system.
mbus module (M-Bus-capable)
The M-Bus module is our word for intelligent energy management. This water meter allows regular monitoring of water consumption within an entire building. Used in combination with the M-Bus module the domaqua m is compatible with all M-Bus installations.
contact module (using contact output)
The 'contact' output module provides remote communication of consumption data in the form of potential-free pulses using a variety of pulse values (1, 10, 100 litres and 10 litres with Namur switches). The 'contact' module can accept a number of fittings ranging from remote readers to automatic reading systems.
Advantages:
- With each of the above-mentioned modules the water meter provides non-reactive, electronic transmission of the reading to the module.
- Standardised specifications mean that all domaqua m water meters fitted with any of these modules retain their compatibility with earlier product generations.
- The modules have a ten-year lifetime in the field, even if, in countries with formal calibration regulations, the meters may have to be replaced at the end of the calibration period.
- The domaqua m from ista is a cold or warm-water meter handling flow volumes of between 1.5 and 2.5 cubic meters per second, and is available in a variety of installation lengths.
house and bulk water meters
House and bulk water meters are rated for measuring large flow quantities. The house water meters are maturely developed, robust, long-life multi-jet impeller meters; bulk water meters are Woltman meters which offer outstanding measuring accuracy even under extreme conditions. House water meters are completely dry runners with magnetic coupling for registering hot water consumption; for cold water, wet runners are used with particularly low pressure losses. The house water meters have a rated flow of Qn 2.5/6/10 m3/h. They are designed for both horizontal and also vertical rising and fall pipes. For extreme conditions, the bulk water meters are designed for rated flows of Qn 15 - 150 m3/h. They are available as WS version for horizontal installation and WP version for horizontal and vertical rising and fall pipes.

the integrated water meter
With the istameter contact module, the istameter m can be read remotely. Simply by attaching the module, the istameter m can be connected to automatic readout systems, such as central control centres or building control centres.
