At its core, the ista SmartValve is a remotely controlled shut-off valve that is installed directly on the cooling line of individual units. Once installed, it enables building managers or utility providers to open or close the valve remotely, based on consumption data, payment status or custom logic.
The device communicates wirelessly via LoRaWAN®, a secure, long-range, low-power protocol with excellent in-building penetration, ensuring reliable connectivity even in dense developments, high rise towers and apartment blocks. For added flexibility, the SmartValve is available in both mains-powered and battery-powered versions. The battery-powered model offers easy, cable-free installation, while the mains-powered version enables real-time control and continuous two-way data transmission.
Thanks to its built-in communication capabilities, the SmartValve can be fully integrated with the ista IoT platform or connected to third-party systems via secure APIs. The mains-powered version can also read meter data and compare it to valve status, making it possible to detect anomalies such as fraud or tampering.
