How we give buildings a future.
At ista, it's all about working together. Our success is based on strong teamwork, mutual trust, and an open, respectful corporate culture.
We not only promote the professional development of our employees through targeted training programmes, but also create space for personal interaction and team spirit. Events such as the popular Soccer Cup demonstrate that cooperation is not only lived at ista, but also celebrated.
We place great importance on the continuous training of our employees. This promotes personal development and significantly enhances our company’s innovative strength. In 2024, ista employees in Germany completed a total of 2,212 days of training. Over the year, 27,720 courses were logged as completed on our digital learning platform across the Group as a whole.
Discover all key figuresIn 2024, 27,720 training courses were completed on Learn, our state-of-the-art learning management platform, almost 3,000 more than last year. These ranged from e-learning courses and webinars to face-to-face training sessions.
In 2024, new tools were introduced that enable departments to share their own learning content with the rest of the organisation - a game changer for content creation. “The new authoring tools significantly reduce the time and effort required to create different types of content. There are a wide range of options for presenting learning content in a contemporary and user-friendly way,” explains Leonie Hörcher, Product Owner at ista. This has led to a considerably higher satisfaction rate among participants of in-house training courses.
The role of a leader has changed significantly in recent years, with new business models, hybrid working environments and constantly changing conditions presenting many challenges for managers. That is why ista launched “Leadership Spotlights” in Germany, a dedicated format for managers. A needs assessment survey conducted in advance highlighted the particular importance of topics such as employee development, stress management, and communicating change.
These were precisely the topics covered in the 60-minute spotlight sessions, during which both internal and external experts shared their insights and experiences. The moderated format is entertaining, flexible, and tailored to the needs of managers. Participants were able to apply what they had learned directly in their everyday work thanks to the comprehensive mix of methods. The five sessions offered in early 2025 attracted over 500 participants and the feedback was so positive that the Leadership Spotlights format will continue.
At ista, diversity is not merely a trend, but a genuine factor for success. For us, diversity means understanding and respecting differences and embracing them to strengthen innovation, creativity and collaboration.
We firmly believe that diversity makes teams more creative, bolder and more successful. That is why we are actively committed to diversity, for example by signing the Diversity Charter.
Equality in practice starts at the top: our Management Board already has an equal number of women and men, which is well above the average for DAX and MDAX companies. This gender balance also applies to the entire ista workforce: 48.3% women and 51.7% men (full-time, permanent) work for us.
Diversity is part of everyday life at ista: in Germany alone, we employ people from 35 different countries.
At ista, we create opportunities for greater flexibility in the workplace and encourage sustainable practices in our daily lives. Our modern working time models enable employees to strike a better work-life balance: nearly one in nine employees works part-time. In 2024, 34 colleagues took the opportunity to go on a sabbatical to recharge their batteries and gain new perspectives.
We also encourage sustainable practices in our daily work: we allow employees to charge their private electric cars during working hours, provide secure bicycle parking, offer daily vegetarian options in our head office canteen, and follow the “rail first” principle. Our fleet of electric vehicles is available for business appointments. And on our annual Volunteering Day at our Essen location, our teams actively engage in charitable projects.
It is our firm belief that people who can work flexibly lead more sustainable lives because they can actively plan their mobility, avoid rush hour traffic, and allocate their personal resources more effectively. That's why we create the appropriate conditions for this at ista.
The ista Soccer Cup is an annual international employee event hosted by a different ista location each year – a real highlight in the calendar for many employees. With 1,500 colleagues from all over the world, exciting matches and a vibrant atmosphere, the ista Soccer Cup 2024 in Krakow was once again a resounding success – both in terms of sport and culture. Under a bright blue sky, we celebrated not only goals but also our global team spirit.
