Seeing the impact.

ista Progress Report 2025/26

In our 16th progress report, we highlight what has an impact and show how transparency makes a difference: through our products and services, we provide a reliable data basis for the buildings sector. We make energy consumption transparent and help identify opportunities for savings. After all, people can only control their energy consumption effectively and improve energy efficiency if they know exactly how much energy they’re using.

At the same time, we also want to make a positive impact through our own actions. That is why we are continuously working to promote environmental, social, and governance topics within our company, whether through the steady transition of our fleet to electric mobility or through our employees’ involvement in volunteering projects.

Change begins with transparency: to cut emissions, you must see what works.

Dear readers,

The success of the heating transition will be decided in the buildings where we live and work – where energy is consumed and emissions are produced. And this is precisely where we have one of the greatest opportunities to effectively advance climate protection.

However, change begins with transparency: if people want to save energy, they need to know where it is being consumed. If people want to cut emissions, they have to see what works. Only then can the right decisions be made.

This is exactly where we come in: with more than 50 million remote-readable metering devices we are providing the basis for making energy consumption visible and progress measurable. In Europe and the Middle East, we help property owners, housing companies and commercial customers to identify potential and actively drive the heating transition forward.

There is a great need for action: buildings are responsible for a considerable proportion of greenhouse gas emissions in Europe. At the same time, demands on efficiency, sustainability and transparency are growing. Reliable data are becoming more and more important.

We see it as our responsibility to help shape this change. That is why we are continually working on reducing our own impact – for example by increasing the share of renewable energies at our sites and by steadily switching our fleet to EVs.

For me, everything hinges on one key concept: progress is made where transparency meets responsibility and action.

This report shows what progress we have made in the past year and where we want to be even better. After all, the transition to sustainable heating systems requires a joint effort and we will continue to play an active role.

Yours

Hagen Lessing, CEO ista SE
