From metering to mobility: what ista does for your buildings
Buildings use energy and water every hour of the day. ista makes that consumption measurable, fair to allocate and easier to reduce. We combine our own metering technology, remote data collection and digital services into solutions for housing companies, property managers, landlords and commercial property owners. They range from metering individual units to portfolio-wide energy data and electric vehicle charging. With more than 52 million radio devices in use, we bring experience at scale to every project. Which solutions are available differs from country to country, and our local ista companies advise you in your own language.
Submetering
Know what each unit actually uses. Submetering records heat, water and energy per flat or commercial unit. It is the basis for billing by actual consumption, for transparency during the year and for meeting metering requirements.
Smart Metering
Remote reading instead of appointments. Remotely readable meters send consumption data automatically, so values are available throughout the year and no one has to enter a flat.
Heat Optimisation
Heat that follows actual demand. AI-based control adjusts an existing heating system to the real needs of the building. ista takes care of installation, set-up and operation, in most cases without replacing the boiler.
Energy Monitoring & Management
Energy data you can report on. MinuteView and ESG Navi bring consumption, costs and CO₂ figures together for single buildings and whole portfolios, for daily monitoring and for sustainability reporting.
EV Charging
Charging that fits the building. From planning and load management to metering and billing per user: ista coordinates charging infrastructure for residential and commercial properties.
Research and development
As the innovation driver of our industry, we invest over 100 million euros in our digital devices and infrastructure every year. Today, we already have more than 25 million connected devices in use. Heat and hot water consumption can therefore be read directly by radio without a meter reader having to enter the apartment. More services for the intelligent multi-family building ("smart building") will be added in future.
Making energy use visible for a more sustainable future
Climate protection is a major task that affects everyone. At ista, we have made it our mission to create transparency about energy consumption around the globe. To make it easier for as many people as possible to save energy, CO2 and costs. To achieve this, energy and water consumption must be precisely measured, accurately billed and easy to manage. Property managers and owners need not only first-class services, but also the right technology, such as radio-based heat cost allocators, water and heat meters, and smoke alarms. We develop these devices ourselves - in the ista technical center.
Developed in-house, built for everyday use
To meet the high demands on our technology, you need a motivated, creative team with fresh ideas and professional know-how. That's why we decided in 2017 to bundle all the expertise required for research and equipment development in one place and set up such a team. The ista Technikum was thus created in the middle of the Ruhr region. The location in Essen offers optimal technical conditions, good accessibility and a reliable infrastructure. Around 75 employees from all over the world work here every day to make devices more efficient, data measurements more accurate and climate protection simpler.
