Essen, 12 January 2023. Nils Engelke is the new Chief Information Officer (CIO) of ista with immediate effect and is therefore responsible for the global IT of the ista Group. At the same time, Michaela Hitzberger was appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the ista Group and is therefore not only in charge of the corporate strategy but also the technology and hardware strategy.
The real-estate service provider ista supports its customers by providing digital solutions to decarbonise their properties. Digitalisation visualises savings potential in the building sector, improves energy efficiency and therefore contributes to climate protection. This expansion of the management team will further accelerate the development of digital solutions, thus delivering great benefits for customers and climate protection. In Nils Engelke and Michaela Hitzberger, ista has appointed two experienced managers for these two key areas of responsibility, which were previously headed by Hagen Lessing in addition to his role as CEO.
- Nils Engelke (43) has been working at ista since 1 May 2022 and was last responsible for the IT Technology Foundation Tribe. Previously, he was Deputy Group Chief Digital Officer responsible for the digitalisation of the electricity system operator Elia Group SA and Head of Energy Economics at the transmission system operator 50Hertz. Prior to that, while at the Boston Consulting Group, he advised companies in the energy sector on strategic transformation projects. As CIO, he will drive the introduction and use of the latest IT technologies as well as rollout of the company-wide agile@scale model in the IT division. Engelke and his department will therefore play a crucial role in developing a unique customer experience.
- Michaela Hitzberger (41) has been at ista since 2020 and is responsible for corporate strategy. She has also been a member of the ista Group's international Market Board since 2022. Previously, she worked at management consultancies for over 14 years including AFRY, KPMG and Accenture. In addition to the continuing development of ista's current hardware portfolio with over 38 million radio-based metering devices in use, as CTO she will push the technological development of new hardware-based climate protection solutions.
